Joint Venture
The tender for the redevelopment of the Melbourne Showgrounds
was awarded to PPP Solutions – comprising Multiplex
Constructions, Babcock and Brown, Multiplex Facilities
Management, Spotless Services and Daryl Jackson Architects.
The Joint Venture between the State Government and the Royal
Agricultural Society of Victoria oversaw the project, delivered
under the State Government's Partnerships Victoria policy.
The contract was executed on 22 June 2005 and covers a 25 year
period. The redevelopment project built new structures and
applied a much-needed facelift to old structures, in line with
heritage requirements.
Commercial acceptance for the project was achieved in August
2006. As scheduled, the redevelopment of the Melbourne
Showgrounds was completed on time to host the 2006 Royal
Melbourne Show.
